Salar De Uyuni or Salar de Tunupa is the world's largest salt flat. Its like a desert of salt. Located in Potosí and Oruro departments in southwest Bolivia, South Amercia, near the crest of the Andes, and is elevated 3,656 meters above the mean sea level.
Around 40,000 years ago, this lake is part of the Lake Michin, a large lake in prehistoric times. When dry, there are 2 remaining lakes, namely Lake Poopó and uru uru, and the 2nd largest salt desert, Salar De Coipasa and Salar De Uyuni.

Estimated, Salar De Uyuni contains 10 billion tons of salt, and less than about 25,000 tons of salt each year obtained. Every November, Salar de Uyuni into residential areas for the 3 species of flamingos in South America: flamingo’s chile, andes, and James. Salar de Uyuni is a popular tourist destination.
