The Rice Terrace Fields of Banaue

Located in the Philippines, these terraces have almost aged 2000 years. Located in the mountains of Ifugao and built by ancestors of the indigenous people. This terracing is located about 1500 meters above sea level and covers nearly 10,360 square kilometers of the entire mountain.

The Banaue terraces are part of the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras, a land created by human beings from 2.000 to 6.000 years old. They are found in the provinces of Kalinga, Apayao, Benguet, Mountain Province and Ifugao, and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

To this day many local residents are still plant terraces with vegetables and fruits, but many young people who began leaving Ifugos agriculture and make this region as the location of a luxury hotel and tourism object.
